RELEASE DAY! Vulpine Curse is now available wherever books are sold. Journey into the darkness and the desert in this prequel to Undead Folk.
A prequel you say? Yes. This book follows Janet’s Dad, Hugh, as he tries to survive in a drought-ridden dystopian USA by fighting grief tooth and nail and claiming the lives of those who’ve crossed his loan shark boss, Steele.
This book was inspired by a combination of desert punk aesthetic, a dystopian society akin to the ones seen in McCarthy’s The Road and the film, The Book of Eli directed by Albert and Alan Hughes and the procedural/bounty hunter/hitman vibes of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner and The Mandalorian.
It also maintains the minimalism of the other books within the Deadlands series, draws heavily on the stages of grief and how they hit us simultaneously, or out of order. I am also releasing it on Walpurgis Night, the night before Beltane. Last year, Undead Folk released on Beltane and it felt appropriate to have the two connected in this way.

This is book number 17! And this will be the fourth book within the Deadlands universe. Hard to believe it’s gone by this fast and that we’re already closing in on 20 books…
Thank you all for supporting me and my work and I hope you’ll give this one a peek. It’s one of my darkest and saddest yet.
Best,
Kat
